R&B/Soul crooner Chrisette Michele will carry out her first duty as the new Spokeswoman for âSaving Our Daughtersâ Book Campaign. The Grammy Award Winner will host the first Hip-Hop 4 Education Initiative on October 3, 2010 at the Bishop L. Cornelius Multi-Purpose Center on the campus of Clark Atlanta University during their annual homecoming festivities and BET Hip-Hop Awards Weekend. The event, which is free to the public, will kick off with a special red carpet arrivals which will include invited celebrities in addition to children overcoming adversity or has excelled academically in school. The program will be filled with entertainment, live performances and a stay in school empowerment session. To inspire and provide hope for children in attendance, Chrisette Michelle will invite children to read selections from the âSaving Our Daughtersâ book series. âI support âSaving Our Daughtersâ and the efforts of the âFollow the Leaderâ movement and what they stand for because as artist, itâs our duty to nurture, educate and provide hope for kids everywhere that might be going through some type of adversity in their lives,â Chrisette Michele explains. Producers of the âFollow the Leaderâ film documentary and organizers of the âSaving Our Daughtersâ Book Campaign has partnered to produce a series of Hip-Hop 4 Education events nationwide to examine and discuss Hip-Hop and its impact on education in inner-city schools. In related news, Chrisette Michele is prepping the release of her third studio album, âLet Freedom Reign,â which is expected to drop November 30. The Grammy-winning songstress is prepping for a November 30 release with the follow-up to her 2009 chart-topping album. The bulk of the new material was comprised by Chuck Harmony and Chrisette, and boasts songs of triumph over love loss and freedom to love again. The disc is led by the first single âIâm a Star,â written by Ne-Yo and produced by Harmony.
