Iconic R&B group ‘the Whispers’ have tapped Fred Hammond for their first ever gospel/inspirational album ! “We’ve been wanting to do this for 10 years,” founding member Nick Caldwell states in a release offered this week. Caldwell and the Whispers, best known for hits like “And The Beat Goes On” and “It’s a Love Thing,” were given the green light for their first ever gospel effort thanks to a special recording deal with Kingdom Records. Under their new deal, The Whispers, will join the likes of Shekinah Glory Ministry, Cynthia Jones and the Brown Sisters at Kingdom while also working with Grammy-winning gospel icon Fred Hammond. The Whispers’ forthcoming gospel debut is slated for release this fall. In related news, nominees for this year’s BET Awards(09′) were revealed this week. Trin-i-tee 5:7, Mary Mary, Shirley Ceasar, Smokie Norful, and Regina Belle have been nominated for the Best Gospel Aritst BET Award.
