Chrisette Michele scored her first no.1 album at Billboard Wednesday ! Michele’s anticipated sophomore set “Epiphany” slid past both Hannah Montana (The Movie Soundtrack) and Ciara thanks to sales near 83,000 copies. “Epiphany,” a follow up to Michele’s Grammy-winning debut, features collaborative efforts from Ne-Yo, Claude Kelly and Bei Maejor including the lead single of the same name (“Epiphany”). Ciara, on the other hand, debuted a little further down the chart at no.3. Her third album, titled “Fantasy Ride,” moved just under 81,000 copies after enduring a troublesome release schedule. While Ciara was spotted out promoting the album and sharing the intensive behind the scenes making of the effort, this album ends up being her lowest selling effort to date. According to Nielsen Soundscan the former “Goodies” singer sold 125,000 copies of her debut and later sold 338,000 copies of the second (2006s “The Evolution”) during each efforts respective debut week. “Fantasy Ride” features the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip Hop Songs climbing single “Love Sex Magic (Justin Timberlake)” and the Young Jeezy assisted “Never Ever”. In related news, Billboard says Chrisette Michele’s debut, while strong for her, is the lowest selling no.1 debut in Nielsen Soundscan’s 18-year history. Taking in the news, Chrisette Michele tells Singersroom “I’m really honored to be a part of the soul legacy. I’m happy that that’s at the top of the charts right now”.
