SR Gospel: Bobby Jones’ Hall of Fame, Faith & Fame, Gospel Top 10

Dr. Bobby Jones will be inducted into the Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame this week! According to the GMA, Jones will join Michael W. Smith, Dolly Parton, the Dixie Hummingbirds and producer Lari Gross who will also be inducted in Nashville, TN Monday, Feb. 2. “This year’s class of GMA Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees have all achieved great professional and personal success in many different areas of the music and entertainment industries, but each shares a common heritage of the Gospels’ powerful impact on their lives,” says GMA president John Styll. Jones, known widely as a singer, host, and executive producer, will be recognized for his contributions to Gospel and long running BET series ‘Bobby Jones Gospel’. Gospel Music Channel (GMC) Celebrates Black History Month The Gospel Music Channel will celebrate Black History month with 28 days of music and artists that have inspired the world, according to network officials. In addition to exclusive programming including the world premiere of the 2009 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel Awards on Feb. 22, GMC will offer seven episodes of its popular biography series ‘Faith & Fame’. ‘Faith & Fame’ will reportedly start Feb. 1 with Shirley Caesar and feature Kirk Franklin (Feb. 2), The Blind Boys of Alabama (Feb. 8), Bishop Paul Morton (Feb. 8), Yolanda Adams (Feb. 9) and Fred Hammond (Feb. 9) before wrapping up with Walter Hawkins on Feb. 18.
