He dubbed himself the Ringmaster and even rode in on an elephant at the MTV Video Music Awards, but for T-Pain 2008 was ironically like his album, a near three ring circus, with his auto-tuned sound rocking the charts worldwide. When T-Pain stepped onto the scene with the hit single “I’m Sprung” a few years back you may have dismissed him as just another one hit wonder, in 2008 we found out T-Pain isn’t go anywhere — at least anytime soon. Like him or not, T-Pain and his always unique style, dominated 2008 track after track. In fact it seemed that T-Pain had an endless arsenal of hits. Teaming with Chris Brown, Lil Mama, Chilli (TLC), Jennifer Hudson, Lil Wayne and so many more, T-Pain had at least seven top 10 singles in 2008, most of which he produced. Kicking off 2008 with Flo Rida’s massive hit “Low,” T-Pain continued to welcome patrons at his circus full of hits. For critics and many fans it wasn’t until the 2008 BET Awards that we realized just how much T-Pain had done in nearly a year. Sweeping into the awards with an astounding five nominations T-Pain put together a massive performance of his hits featuring FloRida, Ludacris and Chris Brown at the show. While the “Can’t Believe It” star walked away with just one award that night, his influence was felt throughout the summer. Further influenced by admiration from colleagues including Kanye West and Lil Wayne, T-Pain made history with the launch of the first digital imprint entitled ‘Nappy Boy Digital,’ a label his artists will distribute their music through digitally instead of using traditional outlets. Inspiring others to utilize autotune technology, T-Pain’s influence transcended onto records from several up and coming Hip Hop stars and even veterans including Diddy and R.Kelly. Continuing his 2008 ringmaster duties, T-Pain dropped his third album “Thr33 Ringz” featuring the hit singles “Can’t Believe It” and “Chopped N Screwed”. “Can’t Believe It” has since been certified GOLD. In 2009, it is rumored that T-Pain will forgo the auto tune sound.
