With well over seven months to go, Beyonce has given Essence the green light. The “I Am… Sasha Fierce” singer has reportedly signed on to headline the 2009 Essence Music Festival. Set for July 3-5, the annual Essence Music Fest will return to the ‘big easy’ — New Orleans. In related news, Beyonce is teaming up with her sister, Solange for a special holiday performance. Getting together for an hour long special entitled “Beyonce and Solange: Hope For The Holidays,” the Knowles sisters will share the stage for the first time in order to raise funds for the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund. The concert will aid the Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund’s mission to assist Texas victims of Hurricane Ike through the Survivor Foundation. “Beyonce and Solange: Hope For The Holidays” is slated to take place at Houston’s House of Blues Tuesday, December 9th. The one hour concert special will premiere exclusively on Fuse Sunday, December 21st, at 10PM ET. “It is an honor for our family to be able to give back to our hometown with a holiday concert that will air on Fuse,” said father and manager Mathew Knowles. “Tina grew up in Galveston and still has family and friends there and weâre fortunate to bring Beyoncé and Solange together to support the efforts of The Gulf Coast Ike Relief Fund through the Survivor Foundation.”
