Actor/Hip Hop artist Play, of the popular early 90’s rap duo, Kid-N-Play, was released from the hospital on yesterday (Jan. 2) after being involved in car accident in Durham, North Carolina over the weekend. According to The NewsObserver, Raul Riva Aldamo, a gateway driver for a home robbery, who was chased by police, was shot by an officer as he escaped the scene on Saturday (Dec 29). Aldamo would only get half a mile away before crashing into Play’s SUV at a downtown Durham intersection. Play’s SUV lost control and slam into a Honda driven by a woman identified as Betty Clark. Play (born Christopher Martin) and his passenger, Michelle Gonzales, were both hospitalized but were discharged yesterday. The injuries that they suffered were not released. The Honda driver, Clark was not injured but Aldamo died at the scene of the crash. Aldamo’s accomplices, Luis Cazanova Campo and Alonzo Castillo, were arrested on various charges including stealing property and holding three people at bay at the home they were robbing. Kid-N-Play gained fame in the early 90’s via their House Party movie series and several albums. The duo would part ways in the mid 90’s with Kid taking on a career in radio and television while Play became a devout Christian and launched an entertainment company.
