Def Jam recording artist Earl St. Clair releases his new single, “Man On Fire” a song that refines the gritty, throwback sound he grew up listening to.
As you can hear on the song, the Cleveland-born, raspy-voiced singer is positioning himself to follow in the footsteps of the soul greats; the swinging horns intermingle with his raspy wails: “She made my heart stop, drop and roll / I’m on fire when you touch my soul,” he declares on the song.
St. Clair grew up listening to B.B. King, Sam Cooke and blues artists from the Delta. He’s worked with Bibi Bourelly for her song “Perfect” and has a hefty songwriting and production credits. St. Clair dropped out of college to pursue music production and to his surprise, his grandfather had taken out a $4000 loan for him to buy equipment. Eventually, St. Clair was producing for almost every rapper in Cleveland, which drew the attention of Lebron James’ agent, who began managing him and introduced him to Polow da Don.
About his forthcoming album Songs About a Girl I Used to Know, the singer-songwriter/producer says, “The project is uplifting. It feels good. I just hope it makes people feel. As long as you feel something, I’m happy.”
