When it comes to expressing yourself through song, there is no one who can touch her. She is the reason why women want to sing, says Mary J. Blige. Blige, who recently wrapped up the ‘Love Soul’ tour, paid tribute to Aretha Franklin in the latest issue of Rolling Stone Magazine, a magazine that has named Aretha the greatest singer of all time. “Itâs beautiful to see, because it helps people with a lack of confidence in their ability, like myself. I look at her and think, âI need a piece of that. Whatever that is,” Blige writes in Rollingstone. “Aretha has everything â the power, the technique. She is honest with everything she says. Everything sheâs thinking or dealing with is all in the music, from âChain of Foolsâ to âRespectâ to her live performances. And she has total confidence; she does not waver at all.” Rolling Stone’s “100 Greatest Singers Of All Time,” Special Edition, is on newstands now.
