The nominations for the 2016 Grammy Awards are in, and R&B is represented well!
Yesterday morning (December 7) on CBS This Morning, 15-time Grammy Award winner Alicia Keys announced the nominees in the major categories Album of the Year, Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best New Artist.
In those categories, Kendrick Lamar earned an Album of the Year nom for his sophomore LP To Pimp a Butterfly, Song of the Year nom for his single “Alright,” and nine other noms to total eleven.
For R&B, D’Angelo scored big; he got three nods for Record of the Year, Best R&B Song for “Really Love", and Best R&B Album for Black Messiah. Jazmine Sullivan got three noms for Best Traditional R&B Performance, Best R&B Song for “Let It Burn”, and one for her album Reality Show. Tyrese scored two for his single “Shame.”
Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars cored a nom with "Uptown Funk" for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.
The Grammys will take place once again at The Staples Center in L.A. on Feb. 15, 2016, and will be broadcast live on CBS from 8–11:30 p.m. ET.
