Al Green has been named a Kennedy Center Honors honoree along with Tom Hanks, Sting and Lily Tomlin.

According to organizers, Green will be saluted with performances on Dec. 7. He will also receive recognition during a reception at the White House.

Patricia McBride rounds out this year's group of honorees.

They join previous honorees including Oprah, Diana Ross, Tina Turner, James Earl Jones, Quincy Jones, Bill Cosby and Aretha Franklin.

The Kennedy Center Honors air December 30 on CBS.
