When the anticipated big screen adaptation of "Black Nativity" arrives in theaters, you will see R&B singer/songwriter Luke James making his acting debut alongside Tyrese (Gibson), Jennifer Hudson, Forest Whitaker and more.

"The movie is about redemption and love, reality to dreams. It’s a little trippy, but it’s great. It has a great message," James shared in a recent interview.

Based on the Langston Hughes musical, "Black Nativity" has a unique take on the Christmas holiday and it will feature Luke James as JoJo, a homeless man, that is expecting a child with his girlfriend, Maria.

"I'm delighted to be a part of something I feel is going to be classic," James told NOLA of his role in the film.

As previously reported, Luke James is working on his debut album, a set that is just about complete and is expected to be available later this year. The album and the movie follow a lengthy journey for the talented singer, who had signed a deal with J Records in 2006, as one-half of the duo Luke & Q. That deal eventually fell apart, but James has gone on to perform with major acts like Beyonce and has also performed on major platforms such as BET Honors.

Looking back over his journey thus far, Luke James says there were moments of doubt.

"I always felt there was something more for me to do. I always felt that way, even living in New Orleans. I had moments of doubt, but I always had faith that this was what I was here to do. It’s all I know. It’s all I want to know," says James.

Luke James' debut album is due for release later this year. "Black Nativity" is currently in production.

Luke James is an up and coming artist who has been creating waves in the music industry since his debut single “I Want You” was released in 2012. Now, this talented singer is set to make a major splash on the big screen with his upcoming role in “Black Nativity”. This heartwarming holiday drama will be sure to tug at viewers’ hearts as they get to witness Luke’s amazing acting skills! Read on for more details about what fans can expect from Luke’s performance in ‘Black Nativity’.

The Louisiana-born performer first made headlines when he signed with Jive Records back in 2009. Since then, he has collaborated with top names such as Ne-Yo, John Legend, Tyrese, and Rick Ross. His music has also earned him multiple Grammy nominations over the years. So it’s no surprise that now Luke is ready to take on Hollywood! He recently announced his part of Langston in Black Nativity which stars Forest Whitaker and Angela Bassett.

This movie promises to be an instant classic due its star-studded cast and captivating storyline of love, faith and family dynamics during Christmas time. Audiences are sure to be awed by Luke’s portrayal of Langston – a young man searching for spiritual guidance while caught between two diverging worlds; Harlem & Baltimore. With its release scheduled for November 27th, 2013, it won’t be long before we all find out if Luke truly lives up to the hype!

Biography Of Luke James

Luke portrays R&B superstar Raymond Stone whose performance takes place during a church service at Langston’s grandparents’ church.

Luke James says that although this will be his first major role on the big screen, it won’t be the last: “This isn’t just about me being able to show people my talent — it’s going to open up doors for other opportunities.” From singing on stage to appearing on the silver screen–it looks like Luke James is off to an exciting start!
