Earlier today (October 11), the nominations for the 2011 American Music Awards were announced at the JW Marriott in Los Angeles, with the help of Pitbull and Nicki Minaj. Nominees include Kelly Rowland, Trey Songz, Justin Bieber, Lil Wayne and Rihanna, with three nods.
Both Pitbull and Nicki received two nominations each. Nicki was nominated for Favorite Hip-Hop Artist and Favorite Hip-Hop Album for ‘Pink Friday’, while Pitbull for Favorite Male Pop Artist and Favorite Latin Music Artist.
Other acts that received two nods include Beyonce, Bruno Mars, and Chris Brown. However, Adele, who has been having a fantastic year with her sophomore album ’21’ leads the pack with four nominations. Among them include Favorite Pop/Rock Album, Favorite Pop/Rock Female Artist, Favorite Adult Contemporary Music Artist, and Artist of the Year.
For the fifth year, winners will be determined by online voting. Fans can log onto amavote.com or ama.abc.com to cast their votes starting today until Friday, November 11th at 11:59PM PST.
The winners will be announced during the live broadcast of the 2011 American Music Awards from LA’s Nokia Theatre on ABC on November 20th at 8PM EST.
