Vocal powerhouse Tamika Scott, one-fourth of legendary group Xscape, shines the spotlight on her solo endeavors with the brand new single, “Tonite.” On the song, which borrows the production of Nas’ classic hit, “One Mic,” the singer and songwriter deliver buttery vocals about self-love and self-reflection after a long week.
“Can’t no drama come my way, tonight I’m gonna celebrate,” is the theme behind Scott’s triumphant message of taking care of yourself; We can’t just focus on working and family!
About the single, Tamika says: “I took the track and wrote a R&B anthem for the ladies. I felt the need to be the voice for all the hardworking women in the world. This song is for housewives, career women, adults in school and every hardworking woman grinding and working hard to be successful like myself.”
“Tonite” is the first single from Scott’s upcoming EP, The Movie, which is pegged as her first solo release.
Tamika and members of Xscape reunited in 2017 for a tour after a 15-year hiatus. The group also released an EP without member Kandi Burruss.
