Uncle Charlie Wilson is still making history!
The R&B/Soul legend achieves yet another career milestone after his singles “Chills” and “I’m Blessed,” featuring T.I., reached #1 simultaneously on Billboard’s Adult R&B and Hot Gospel Charts, respectively. Both songs appear on his latest album, In It To Win It, released January 2017.
“I am overwhelmed with joy and can’t help but say I’m blessed,” Wilson tells Billboard.
According to a press release:
“I’m Blessed,” Wilson’s first single from In It To Win It, became a #1 Billboard Adult R&B hit while also debuting at #1 on Billboard’s Hot Gospel Songs chart last year. The song became Wilson’s first #1 gospel single. “I’m Blessed” has since reclaimed the top spot on the Hot Gospel Songs chart after maintaining a Top 5 position for 45 weeks straight. The hit song has regained its #1 status after 9 months, setting the record for longest stints between #1s on the Billboard Hot Gospel Songs chart.
In the same week, “Chills,” the set’s 4th single, becomes Wilson’s 11th #1 single at radio as a solo artist* and is currently #1 for the second week on the Billboard Adult R&B Chart. With “I’m Blessed” reclaiming the #1 spot again on the Hot Gospel Song Chart, Wilson also becomes the first artist to achieve the feat of having both top spots simultaneously on those charts.
Wilson continues to thrive after being clean and sober for the past 22 years and prostate cancer free for 9 years, two facts he openly shares with the multi-generational audiences who attend his critically-acclaimed concerts.
