Three-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Tayla Parx returns to Singersroom with her new Khalid assisted single, “Runaway.”
Recently signed to Atlantic Records, Parx is currently preparing for her debut full-length project, set to release later this year. Parx first earned recognition at 13 years old for her role as Little Inez in the 2007 movie remake of the musical, Hairspray. With her music career popping off, the now 24-year-old has grown into one of the sought-after songwriters penning hits for some of today’s hottest acts including Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey, J.Lo, Fifth Harmony, The Internet, Chloe x Halle and many more.
The kickback love song finds Tayla and Khalid reminiscing about a love that no one seems to understand. The solution to their problems: runaway.
With Khalid opening the track discussing their problems and their longing to be together, Parx discloses her family’s disapproval of their relationship.
“My family doesnʼt like you anymore/ Cause they know about our history/ Lets run away and leave our town behind us/ Lets run away just you and me,” she sings.
The forthcoming project is the follow up to her debut solo project released last year entitled TaylaMade.
