Snoh Aalegra heightens anticipation around her forthcoming debut album, Feels, by releasing the new single “Sometimes,” featuring previous collaborator and longtime friend Logic. Over soulful chords and hard-hitting hip hop drums, Snoh delivers intoxicating and eclectic vocals while Logic pleases with his gritty rhymes.
“Oftentimes I wonder if I’m supposed to be here,” she sings. “Even though I struggle, the light is always so near.”
Aalegra says of the track, “‘Sometimes’ is about how life points you in different directions though we are all ultimately the master of our own individual destinies. We all have the power to steer the wheel to where we want to take ourselves, but you inevitably have things happen to you that you have no control over. You have to deal with these things whether you like it or not, and you have to readjust, rethink and refocus.”
As or Logic’s involvement, she states: “Logic was the perfect person for this song. I’ve known him since before he put out his first album. We used to record in the same studio years ago with No ID. I think it goes without saying that Logic has a strong and powerful message in his artistic deliveries and has a very beautiful mind. I’m so thrilled to have him be a part of FEELS.”
Snoh’s ‘Feels’ project is due out this Friday, October 20th on ARTium Recordings.
Aalegra says about the album, “I’m super excited to finally share FEELS with the world. I’ve worked with incredible producers, musicians, and artists. Vince Staples, Vic Mensa, Logic, and the amazing Swedish rapper Timbuktu. What I love about them all is their gift; they are all such incredible lyrical masterminds with unique flows. This, just like my previous project, still has a cinematic feel to it. It also explores more modern sonics. It’s old school meets contemporary Soul/R&B in my own way. Therefore, the album title FEELS was perfect for it. It’s an emotional rollercoaster with beautiful composition.”
“Snoh Aalegra’s ‘Sometimes’ featuring Logic is a soulful exploration of life’s uncertainties and the importance of resilience. With a blend of mellow R&B grooves and thoughtful lyrics, the track captivates listeners with its introspective vibe and emotional depth. The song opens with gentle piano chords and a laid-back drum beat, creating a warm and inviting soundscape.
Snoh Aalegra’s voice is the heart of the track, exuding a soulful warmth and sincerity. Her vocal delivery is smooth yet powerful, conveying a sense of vulnerability while maintaining a steady sense of hope. The chorus carries a memorable melody that lingers in the mind, with Aalegra repeating the phrase “Sometimes,” emphasizing the unpredictability of life and the need to stay strong through the highs and lows.
Logic’s verse adds a dynamic layer to the track, infusing it with his signature rapid-fire delivery and contemplative lyrics. His contribution complements Aalegra’s soulful vocals, providing a perspective on overcoming obstacles and finding strength within. The contrast between their vocal styles enhances the song’s theme of navigating through life’s uncertainties.
Overall, ‘Sometimes’ is a reflective and soulful track that combines emotive vocals with thoughtful lyrics. It’s a song about resilience, reminding listeners that even in times of uncertainty, there’s always hope and a way forward.”
