Singer/actress Demetria McKinney gives us another lane into her music arsenal with the trap/RnBass release, “No No No,” the final track before her long-awaited debut album, ‘Officially Yours,’ arrive on October 6th. On the record, the usually sweet songstress takes jabs at fake females, especially the ones that alter their bodies.
Due out October 6, ‘Officially Yours’ is produced by Grammy Award-winning artist and producer Kandi Burruss, and is preceded by the singles “Is This Love” and the top 5 Urban AC hit “Easy.”
“As a recording artist, this is where the most truthful, transparent side of me will be seen and heard,” Demetria says about the personal album. “People mostly know me for the roles I have played, and they are all roles that I chose specifically for the lessons that I would learn from each character. Personally, I never wanted to show vulnerability because I thought it was a sign of weakness. I didn’t want to talk about situations I’ve endured and I would shut off opportunities that would make me connect with any past pain. I always hid behind my characters and allowed them to overshadow Demetria. But the reason I call this LP Officially Yours is because the music represents the ‘official’ Demetria McKinney.”
In related news, Demetria is set to portray the late music legend Whitney Houston in TV One’s forthcoming biopic, Bobbi Kristina, about Bobbi Kristina Brown – the only child of Houston and singer Bobby Brown. The show will premiere on the network on Sunday, October 8th at 7 PM. Additionally, she will star in actor/director Mario Van Peebles’ TV series Superstition, premiering on the Syfy Network on October 6th. Watch the below video as she opens up about playing Whitney!
