Cape Town/London-based, alt-folktronic trio, The Wintyr, reveal new music video for “This Water,” a record from their upcoming album, Fury, due out March 10, 2017.
“[The video is] A concept piece about finding and knowing your purpose,” states frontwoman Evelyn Hart. “Represented by water and wine, the question is always asked: Who are you and where are you going? The idea is to take people on a journey of discovery just as the main character searches for meaning.”
The Rash Ferguson-directed clip was shot in Cape Town, South Africa.
“This Water” by The Wintyr is a hauntingly atmospheric track that blends elements of indie pop and electronic music, creating a sound that feels ethereal and immersive. The song opens with a gentle wash of synths and ambient textures, setting a dreamlike mood. A slow, steady beat provides a subtle sense of rhythm, allowing the ambient layers to flow seamlessly.
The vocals in “This Water” are soft and haunting, delivered with a sense of introspection and calm. The voice serves as a guiding light through the misty landscape of the song, drawing listeners into a state of contemplation. The lyrics are evocative and poetic, exploring themes of reflection, renewal, and the cleansing power of water. As the song progresses, there’s a feeling of movement and change, as if riding on the current of a gentle stream.
The chorus is airy and melodic, with a refrain that lingers in your mind like a distant echo. The production is spacious, allowing the different sonic elements to breathe and interact without feeling crowded. This openness creates a sense of expansiveness, as if the music is stretching out into a vast, unseen landscape.
Overall, “This Water” by The Wintyr is a beautifully crafted track that invites listeners into a world of serenity and contemplation. Its combination of gentle rhythms, ethereal synths, and soothing vocals makes it a perfect choice for relaxation, meditation, or moments when you need to disconnect from the noise of everyday life.
The Wintyr will be bringing their eclectic roots and sound to the US and Europe in Spring 2017.
