Following his five-year hiatus from music, R&B singer Lloyd returned this past summer (2016) with the single and reflective music video for the personal song ‘Tru.’
Now, after much anticipation, the Atlanta native will release his brand new EP, TRU, via his Young Goldie Music imprint and EMPIRE on Friday, Dec. 9 (Pre-order).
“It was just pure therapy; It was only for me,” Lloyd said about the independently released project. “I remember the first few times people would listen to it, I would leave the studio. I could never look at people while they were listening to it.”
Hours before the EP drops comes the new record ‘Holding,’ an infectious ride or die tune featuring long-time collaborator Lil Wayne.
On the record, Lloyd promises to hold his lady down insisting, “All I need is your loving, baby / You hold my heat, roll me weed…”
The ‘Tru’ EP also features appearances from Rick Ross (‘Heavenly Bodies’) and 2 Chainz on the remix of the title track. The project serves as the precursor to Lloyd’s forthcoming fifth studio album, currently titled Out My Window, due next year. His last LP was 2011’s King of Hearts.
‘Tru’ Tracklist:
1. “Tru”
2. “Heavenly Body” f/ Rick Ross
3. “Holding” f/ Lil Wayne
4. “Excited”
5. “Tru (Remix)” f/ 2 Chainz (Bonus)
