DJ Mustard spreads some production love to mentee Ella Mai for her new single and music video, ‘10,000 Hours.’
In the visual, the London-born singer/songwriter spends most of her time seated at a piano and posted by a window as she reminisces over the highs and lows of her relationship.
The record, which is taken from Ella’s forthcoming EP, Change, is based on Malcolm Gladwell’s Outliers. “In the book…Gladwell says you need to do something for 10,000 hours in order to have it down pat,” explains Ella. “My song applies that same theory to love.”
‘Change’ follows the 10 Summers signee’s previous EP Time, and features songs about “newfound love, new emotions, and new experiences.”
“It’s about finding someone new,” she adds. “And knowing how to appreciate what he’s giving you in comparison to what you were dealing with.”
The five-track EP is due Friday (Nov. 18).
