Following her 2015 Heatwave EP, NYC-based artist Sonya Teclai has released a new single “Dance With Me.”
The SQDRN-produced premiered on Beats 1 and samples and features an interpolation of Ginuwine’s “Pony.” Teclai coos over the seductive slow jam that sees her promising to “rock her man’s world.”

Teclai was is influenced by artists like Lauryn Hill, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Sade, and many more she has developed a standalone sound by fusing elements of r&b, alternative r&b, rap, and trip-hop. She tributes her love for heavy drums and true grit to her East African background, while her laid back and sultry delivery can be found in her northern California (Sacramento and the Bay Area) roots.
She’s currently working on her follow-up project.
