After all the many Marvin Gaye documentaries that went unauthorized by his family, the Gaye family has now hopped on board to back a documentary called “Marvin, What’s Going On?”
According to Variety, Gaye’s ex-wife Janis Gaye and his children Nona, Marvin III, and Frankie Gaye, are all on board in support of the doc which will be produced by Noah Media and Greenlight Films. The film will focus on Gaye’s creation of his influential 1971 album “What’s Going On.”
The doc will be filmed in Detroit, L.A., and Washington, and will feature interviews from some of Motown’s stars who knew Gaye best.
In a statement, Gaye’s children expressed their excitement about the project. “We are proud that his relevance remains intact, and we look forward to being a part of this cinematic journey,” they state.
“Marvin, What’s Going On?” is slated for a 2017 release.
