Last time we heard from Nigerian-American sibling duo VanJess (Jessica and Ivana) was back in ’13 and ’14 when they dropped their respective singles “Killer Lover” and “Dazed.” Now they’re back with new music in the form of “Adore.”
Produced by Ivory Snow, “Adore” allows these sisters to bring smooth and soultry vibes that warm the ear over melodies and harmonies reminiscent of Zhane and TLC.
The group has garnered a fan base with millions of views on Youtube with their popular covers. “The covers we’ve done express who wanna be as artists: r&b with jazz & hip hop roots. We want to bring back the organic 90’s feel artists like TLC , The Fugees/Lauryn HIll & Aaliyah had and lace it with current hip hop sounds,” Ivana explained. “We want to be honest, daring, gritty and make music not just girls but guys can vibe to,” Jessica added.
VanJess has used their talent to support causes like the “Louder than Words” campaign in 2012 and performing at 2013’s “Lights Camera Cure” dance-a-thon. With appearances on shows like VH1’s “The Linda Perry Project,” the Nigerian American sisters have since re-released their debut EP 00 till Escape which charted on iTunes top ten and trended worldwide.
VanJess is prepping an EP due out this summer (2016). Purchase “Adore” on iTunes HERE.
