Ashanti can finally relax!
Following last week’s creepy court session on Wednesday (Mar 16), the singer can finally breathe a sigh of relief as her longtime stalker Devar Hurd has finally been found guilty.
According to TMZ, Hurd (who represented himself) gave his closing arguments on Thursday, stating that excessive tweeting and sending lewd messages on social media is not a crime. He argued that Ashanti could have simply blocked him. But he failed to win the case when he was found guilty of felony 2nd degree stalking. He has been behind bars since his arrest in 2013, now he faces 1.5 to 4 years behind bars when he’ll be sentenced next month.
The singer expressed happiness about the verdict on Twitter:
First & Foremost thank you God!!!! ?????? & Thanku guys for all of your love, support & Prayers!!!! Verdict is in. #Guilty

The proceedings went to a mistrial after a juror got sick in 2014, then in October 2015, Hurd was convicted on nine counts during a second trial, including sending hundreds of lewd tweets. In 2009, Hurd was convicted of stalking Ashanti’s mom Tina Douglas (including sending pics of his genitals he referred to as “gifts”).
