Lifetime may have gotten it right this time!
If you tuned into the TV movie, Toni Braxton: Unbreak My Heart, on Saturday night (Jan. 23), then you were one of an average of 3.6 million viewers, according to Nielsen’s initial estimates, making it TV’s first top-rated movie of the year.
Nielsen estimates that 1.7 million adults ages 18-49 and 1.8 million adults ages 25-54 tuned into the film, which documented the life of living R&B legend Toni Braxton. With 4.5 million viewers overall, Unbreak My Heart is cable’s the No. 1 TV movie since Lifetime’s premiere of Whitney in January 2015.
Braxton served as one of the executive producers of the film, alongside Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds. Overall, fan reviews are good compared to past Lifetime films of yore (Whitney, Aaliyah: Princess of R&B), and that could be because the artist had a hand in the film’s formation.
Good look for Lifetime and Ms. Braxton!
