A few weeks ago, it was reported that Janet Jackson had to postpone the remaining Unbreakable World Tour dates due to having to undergo a mystery operation. Now we may know what ailed the superstar: a tumor on the singer’s vocal cords.
According to a source who spoke to RadarOnline.com, “Doctors found a growth on Janet’s vocal cords that could be serious. It’s a medical condition that has to be taken care of immediately,” the source tells Radar.
RadarOnline sought the expertise of Dr. Stuart Fischer to explain what this could mean. “God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again.” He continued, “Cancer of the larynx requires immediate surgery C— and a patient often needs an electrolarynx, or artificial voice box, just to be able to speak. Singing would be impossible. Surgery would be very complex, and followed by months of radiation treatment,” he said.
Back in October, doctors ordered Jackson to get vocal rest; that could have been related to the same vocal problems. The source adds Janet is hopeful and plans on returning to the tour. “Janet said she knows that with prayers and her will, she’ll be back out on the road in the spring or early summer,” the source said.
This news is certainly frightening! Let’s hope that the growth isn’t cancerous, it can be removed successfully, and Janet can bounce back like the strong person she is!
Get well soon, Janet!
