Last night (Dec. 9), “Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays” aired on FOX, a variety special featuring actress Taraji P. Henson and actor Terrence Howard, their “Empire” cast mates, and musical friends to celebrate the holidays with comedy and music.
Mary J. Blige, John Legend, Patti LaBelle, Chris Brown, Tank, Jussie Smollett and Bryshere Y. Gray all performed.
John Legend sang the Jackson 5 version of “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town,” then performed a powerful duet of “O Holy Night” with the one and only Patti LaBelle. In a golden dress, Mary J. Blige performed “The Christmas Song,” and Chris Brown kept with the golden theme in a bronzed suit. Breezy used the opportunity to sing a song from his upcoming album Royalty, “Back To Sleep,” and his holiday fan fav, the cover of Donny Hathaway’s “This Christmas.” Tank joined him midway through the song. Breezy seemed to struggle during his performance, which fanned some questions to why in Twitter. Brown said it’s because he’s been hitting the grind extra hard lately. “I appreciate @TherealTaraji for allowing me to come on their Holiday special. Grind season been in full effect. Been under the weather,” he wrote.
