About time! Janet Jackson and Chaka Khan may get their acknowledgment by The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame in 2016!
Jackson is a part of this year’s nominees, along with which powerhouse Chaka Khan. Billboard explains that to be eligible for nomination, 25 years must have passed since the release of an artist’s debut recording. Chaka’s self-titled debut album with Rufus was released in 1973, and Janet’s self-titled LP in 1982. Janet’s brother Michael was inducted in 2001.
Other nominees include Compton’s own NWA, R&B group The Spinners, and the Nile Rodgers-formed, disco band Chic.
The winners of the voting will be announced in December and inducted in the official ceremony in April 2016.
