F. Gary Gray became the highest-grossing black director this summer with his hit film “Straight Outta Compton” which grossed $157.5 million in the U.S. and Canada.
While he’s not planning on doing another biopic any time soon, he said he wouldn’t mind doing a movie about soul music legend, Marvin Gaye. Gray told TMZ, “All the things he talked about in his album What’s Going On is relevant now, he was ahead of his time and his story is somewhat Shakespearian and that’s just a deep story. The music is incredible, it’s timeless,” he said.
There have been many attempts to do a film about Gaye; a few years ago rumor had it that Lenny Kravitz would play the fallen singer.
How dope would that be if Gray directed a film about Gaye?!
