Congrats go out to Tyrese Gibson and John Legend, who are just two of the honorees at the 2015 Triumph Awards, which took place this past Saturday in Atlanta and was hosted by actress Tichina Arnold.
Tyrese received the Entertainer of the Year award presented to him by Martin Luther King III, then performed his single “Shame.” While not in attendance at the ceremony, Legend was given the Presidential Award for his philanthropic efforts and accepted the award with Rev. Al Sharpton via pre-taped video.
Ledisi, Jazmine Sullivan and Estelle also took to the stage to serenade the audience, and Chante Moore and R&B singer Stokley Williams performed a duet rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “Someday We’ll All Be Free.” T.I. perfomed a spoken word piece highlighting the Black Lives Matter movement.
Other honorees included Wanda Sykes (Activism in the Arts Award) and Intel chief diversity officer Rosalind Hudnell (Corporate Executive of the Year).
The 2015 Triumph Awards will air on Oct. 3 on TV One.
