Today, the R&B duo known as G.NAX is back with a brand new single called “Kamikaze,” produced by longtime friend, Atlanta producer Renan Calistro. Over a repetitive riff, some snaps and a heavy kick drum, a more aggressive (but amused) Gene shows a side to her we’ve never seen before, while Mr. Axnt comes through with a catchy hook.
“I’m about to blow up in this motha / Where u at / Nigga keep the talkin’ from another / Where u at,” sings Gene.
About the record, they explain, “We wanted to have fun. It wasn’t meant to be on any projects in particular. The song is basically a caricature of an angry state of mind. We wanted to have fun with it. The production left a lot of room for creativity so we wanted to explore all the possibilities without necessarily being politically correct.”
Last year, Gene & Mr. Axnt released their debut album, Grillz & Bakery. They introduced themselves to the world in 2013 with their first EP, Molotov Music. G.NAX is nominated for Best Group at this year’s African Entertainment Award, which will be held in Toronto on September 5th.
