It safe to say that Mariah Carey's judging stint on FOX's American Idol is a period in her life that she would love to delete. The music icon called into Australian KIIS FM to promote her #1 to Infinity residency and album recently and she told host Kyle and Jackie O that the reality show was one of her worst "experience of my life."
"HELL NO! Absolutely not, that was the worst experience of my life," Carey stated when asked if she would return to Idol for its final season. "I'm not gonna get into what it was but let's just say I don't think they had any intentions on establishing a good experience during that show…Pinning two females against each other wasn't cool. It should've been about the contestants instead about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness…I would never wanna be involved with it again. Everybody else can like it!"
Carey, who appeared on Season 12 of the show alongside Randy Jackson, Keith Urban and Nicki Minaj, also said the show was fake and boring.
She explains: "It's so boring and so fake. I'm sorry…you have make up things to say..half the time the performances are good, you just be like it's good. Just ending it there."
The upcoming 15th season of American Idol will be the last hurrah. Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr. will close out as judges — the season will premiere in January 2016 and "pay tribute to the past 14 seasons."
