To support the city of Baltimore, which is currently wrapped up in civil unrest after the police death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray, Prince and his band 3RDEYEGIRL will throw a “Rally 4 Peace” concert at the Royal Farms Arena on Sunday, May 10.
This is an impromptu concert separate from their “HITNRUN USA” tour, which are concerts that pop up on unexpected notice in cities around the country. The press release states concertgoers are invited to wear the color gray in tribute to Freddie Gray, and that the concert is “meant to be a catalyst for pause and reflection following the outpouring of violence that has gripped Baltimore and areas throughout the U.S.” Other superstars are expected to make surprise appearances.
Last week, it was reported that the musician recorded a tribute song called “Baltimore,” which is still yet to be released.
A portion of proceeds will go to youth charities in Baltimore. Tickets went on sale today (May 6) at 5 p.m. EST.
