Sam Smith gets John Legend for an even more dynamic version of “Lay Me Down,” originally a single from Smith’s critically acclaimed debut album, In The Lonely Hour.
Legend’s presence on the song is for Red Nose Day, a biennial charity telethon launched in 1988 held in March, which alternates with sister project Sport Relief every two years. During this British institution, people across the land can get together and do something funny for money at home, school and work in an effort to raise money for those in need across the UK and Africa. This year, Red Nose Day lands on March 13, the day which Smith and Legend will perform this song on “Comic Relief: Face the Funny.”
“I'm doing the official single for this year's Red Nose Day with the amazing John Legend!!!!” Smith captioned with the song. “So honored to collaborate with such an incredible artist. Please do support the track, it really is for such a good cause xx?.”
