Hoorah! TLC has reached above and beyond their Kickstarter goal to fund their next (and final) album.
Last month on January 19th, TLC posted a Kickstarter page with the objective to raise $150,000 in 30 days. Three days later, they surpassed their goal and raised $173,540.
Now, a full month later, with the campaign officially over, the R&B duo made up of Tionne “T-Boz” Watkins and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas have raised a whopping $430,255! According to their KS page, a total of 4,201 contributors funded the project, including Katy Perry with $5,000 (earning her a slumber party with the duo), and tour-mates New Kids On The Block with $20,000.
The group tweeted, “Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who donated to our campaign!! Xx We are thrilled to have so much love and support from fans! It means so much!”
They also thanked fans though PEOPLE: “Our hearts are overflowing with gratitude for our fans for all of their amazing support. We feel so blessed to know that not only do our fans love us, but they believe in us. We have received support from longtime listeners that attended our first concerts, plus new fans who have only just started listening.”
The new and final album will follow their first project in over a decade, 200’s 3D.
Congrats to T-Boz and Chilli! Roll on, new music!
