“Cash rules everything around me, (C.R.E.A.M. get the money)” – Wu-Tang.
We’re thinking this may be Mark Ronson’s new theme song. His latest single, “Uptown Funk,” featuring vocals from Bruno Mars, is raking in huge profits on Spotify.
According to NME, “Uptown Funk” has been streamed 125 million times since its release in November (2014) and was streamed over 15 million times in the last week of January alone.
With Spotify’s pay scale at $0.007 per play to rights holders, it’s estimated that the song’s streaming earnings from the music portal is around $880K, or around $100K per week.
Nice change!
This revenue will be split with Ronson, Mars, the record company, and more.
Taylor Swift may need to reconsider the pulling of her songs from Spotify.
