Soulful songstress Dawn McClain unwraps the visual for her latest single “State of Emotion.” On the silky ballad, penned by Grammy winner Gordon Chambers (Brown Stone, Anita Baker, Brandy, Angie Stone) and produced by Wizard Jones, Dawn coos about loving one’s self.
She also explained how the record came about:
"Gordon wrote this song for me based off of a conversation he and I were having, as we were in route from NYC to DC for his concert (I was his background singer). We hadn't seen each other in a while, so we were trying to catch up. But Gordon noticed that every time he asked about how I was doing or what was going on in my life, I would deflect to my boyfriend (at the time) or my daughter, or the people around me, but never myself. He told me that I need to find love and completion within myself, and that it was alright to love myself first and do what makes me happy. I hadn't even realized that I was neglecting myself."
