Jamie Foxx has slowly been stepping back into the spotlight by dropping stray tunes such as “A Party Ain’t A Party” ft. 2 Chainz and “Ain’t My Fault,” signifying a possible musical return. But one reason we haven’t heard from the Oscar-nominee is because he may have been working on the highly anticipated remake of the musical Annie.
Both actors appear on the cover of the December issue of Essence Magazine. In the remake (produced by Will and Jada Smith and Jay Z), Foxx plays Daddy Warbucks, father to the title character Annie, played by fellow young Oscar-nominee Quvenzhané Wallis.
Jaime is a perfect fit for the role, as he can both act and sing. Eleven-year-old Wallis has made huge strides as a child actress (as seen in both roles in 12 Years a Slave and Beasts of the Southern Wild); however the world is about to find out about her singing chops.
