Aubrey O'Day's plan of playing the victim in the demise of female R&B/Pop group Danity Kane may be backfiring.
Recently, O’Day released a video, which came off as a fight between the group members to make Dawn Richard look bad, but the clip was reportedly a stage reality show video that didn’t get picked up. Following the release of the clip, Dawn leaked the below email to shift any blame against her.
Now, member Aundrea Fimbres, who left prior to the group’s breakup to start a family, is breaking her silence, and stating “facts.” Taking to Twitter, Fimbres adds that no one person is to blame for the group’s downfall.
“Only facts. I was there during the taping of a pilot for E! Which was not picked up. The pilot was completely staged,” writes Fimbres. “No one member is to blame for Danity Kane. We all played a part.”
DK3 announced their breakup earlier this month following a violent incident at a studio with members Dawn and Aubrey, who later penned an open letter blaming Dawn for the group's demise.
“During a recent group meeting, a business conversation took a turn for the worst when my group member punched me in the back of my head while I was speaking to another associate,” writes O’Day. “To be clear, she was not physically engaged or threatened prior to her attack on me. This is the same information I provided to the police, and witnesses also corroborated this account of the incident. I cannot condone or excuse any form of physical violence, particularly at the hands of someone I considered family. Disagreements happen. But a war of words and ideas should never end in physical aggression.”
Shannon Bex also chimed in: “I entered into this journey again with sisters who understood a dynamic that nobody else could. I hoped we could honestly reflect on what we had been through and the mistakes that were made. After this last year of trying to make this next chapter a success, I am devastated to admit that my expectations were set too high. I now must walk away feeling used and manipulated in addition to the name Danity Kane.”
Dawn took blame for the attack on Aubrey in the studio, but her reasons, along with some sources close to the group, saw things differently as she called the stories "exaggerated lies and false accusations."
According to Dawn, O’Day and Bex were meeting behind her back … recording tracks without her and discussing business matters involving the group.
