Randy Jackson parted ways with "American Idol," as a judge, because he felt like it was time for a change.
In extended footage from his recent "Oprah: Where Are They Now?" interview, Jackson cites working with stars like Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood and Ruben Studdard stating he had "done it with the best of them."
"I felt like I had done everything, on that particular show, as a judge, that I could do. You, at some point, go done that. Done it. Done it with the best of them. Done it when it was at the height of the height of the height. And I just felt like I needed a change from that," said Jackson.
As for his current role on Idol, Jackson said "I'm still mentoring because that's kind of what I do anyway. I manage artists and actors."
