Katy Perry and Staples have teamed up for a new initiative titled "Make roar Happen."
In video below, Perry campaigns to raise awareness about underfunded schools and encourages the donation of school supplies nationwide.
"Imagine going onstage without any guitars, or keyboards, drums, or a microphone and being expected to ‘Roar.’ Tough, right? It’s the same with our teachers, who are using their own money so students can learn," Perry says in the clip.
Studies show that teachers are spending their own funds, well over $400 a year, to provide school supplies in under-funded classrooms.
Staples is donating $1 million to DonorsChoose.org
