Brazil 2014: Shakira to Perform at World Cup Closing Ceremony

Shakira has been tapped to close out yet another World Cup

The international superstar will perform the song “La La La (Brazil 2014)” at the Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro on July 13th ahead of the championship game.

“I have an intricate relationship with football for obvious reasons, and I truly understand what the World Cup means to so many people, myself included,” Shakira says in a statement. “The fans have shown the most incredible support for this song and I can't wait to perform it for them.”

By the way, for those of you who don’t know the “obvious reasons,” Shakira’s boo is soccer star Gerard Pique, whom she has an 18-month-old son with.

The performance will mark Shakira’s third consecutive appearance at a World Cup closing ceremony; she performed in South Africa in 2010 and in Germany in 2006.

Also hitting the stage for this year's closing ceremony are Carlos Santana and Wyclef Jean, who will sing the official anthem 'Dar Um Jeito' alongside Brazil's Alexandre Pires.
