Rising sensation August Alsina, who rocked the stage with Trey Songz and Chris Brown at the BET Awards last night, in addition to nabbing the Best New Artist and the Viewers’ Choice award, enhances his hype by releasing the music video for his Rick Ross-assisted single Benediction.
On the biographical cut, taken from the New Orleans native's debut album, Testimony, and produced by The Featherstones, the gritty singer-songwriter spotlights his survival while coming up in the streets and also pays respect to his late brother.
Testimony was released on April 15th, the birthday of Alsina’s slain brother, Melvin LaBranch III.
“As an artist,” August reflects, “I struggle with how much of myself to give to the people. How much I want my personal business to be judged. I think the EP struck good a balance of who I am and what I’ve been through, but that was just the beginning. Nothing is held back on ‘TESTIMONY’. When people hear my story, and see that I came from nothing, they’ll see that it’s possible for them too.”
