Jennifer Hudson has been confirmed to front a new concept album spearheaded by Harvey Weinstein.
The entertainment veteran broke the news over the weekend, slating Hudson to assist in an album that will coincide with the debut of "Finding Neverland," a new musical that is due to arrive on Broadway Spring of 2015.
It's unclear how much music is, or has been, recorded for the album, but Weinstein also has his eye on garnering support from Alicia Keys and Taylor Swift.
"Based on the Miramax film written by David Magee, Finding Neverland follows the story of Barrie (Jordan) and his relationship with the family of widow Sylvia Llewelyn Davies (Kelly)," reports Broadway. "Llewelyn Davies' children eventually became Barrie's inspiration to write Peter Pan."
Nothing else is known, at this point, of the album or musical.
Weinstein took some flack for getting Hudson booked to perform during the Tony Awards over the weekend, with some claiming that she was out of place. She performed a number from "Finding Neverland."
"When people make these kinds of assertions they’re the ones making sure stars won’t appear on Broadway," Weinstein shared with Deadline. "We're taking a front row seat."
Hudson has not been cast to appear in the Broadway production.
