On June 3rd, R&B superstar, Kelly Price returned to her hometown, New York, to promote her new album Sing, Pray, Love Volume 1 at SOBs.
Fans were eager for two reasons: Free admission and to see the extremely talented Ms. Price rip the stage with her powerhouse vocals.
The Grammy nominated artist kicked out her performance with the smash single, "It's My Time," which is considered to be an anthem for everyone who is ready to omit the drama and strife in their life. She explained to her fans why she wrote the song by saying, "It's time for you to be happy, live your life, and do what's best for you. Anything you want in this life, you have to work hard for it. Yes, God will seek you through, but you have to put your best foot forward."
She also played other songs from the album including, "Think Again," "Last Night," "The 14th," "Back 2 Love ft. Ruben Studdard,” and sampled Chaka Khan's song, "Through the Fire." Fans were amazed when she sang Chaka's song, because her voice fits perfectly.
Kelly Price was frank with her fans when she talked about how she finds inspiration to write songs. She says, "Some of them are autographical and biographical.” Her words of encouragement also gave people hope about finding love when she stated that her and her husband has been married for almost 22 years next month. Kelly made it clear that if you're expecting your relationship to be easy and perfect, then you're in the wrong business. Relationships take work and it's up to you and your significant other to value it.
For the past 20 years, Kelly Price is still one of R&B's finest. Many remember her when she sung backgrounds on many Bad Boy records including “Mo' Money, More Problems.” She is known for her hit singles, "Friend of Mine," "Secret Love," "You Should've Told Me," and "He Proposed."
Kelly Price's seventh studio album, Sing, Pray, Love Volume 1, is available now!
