After ten weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Pharrell’s “Happy” was dethroned by R&B crooner John Legend’s “All Of Me.” In what Billboard calls one of the tightest finishes ever, Legend’s piano ballad beats the world’s happiest song by .009 percent to take the throne.
“#1!!!!!!!! Thank you!!” a happy Legend tweeted.
“All Of Me,” lifted from Legend’s August (2013) album, Love In The Future, spent six weeks at no. 2 before finally topping “Happy,” giving the singer, songwriter his first no. 1 ever. His previous highest mark was no. 24 with both 2005′s “Ordinary People” and 2008′s “Green Light” featuring André 3000.
Ariana Grande makes at strong debut at no. 3 with her new single “Problem,” which features rapper Iggy Azalea. “Problem” marks her highest charting, beating out her previous hit single “The Way,” which notched at no. 9.
According to Billboard:
"Problem" earns the eighth-largest debut ever for a download, as it starts at No. 1 on Digital Songs with 438,000 sold. It's also the biggest arrival for a song this year, and the best sum since Katy Perry's "Roar" debuted with 557,000 (Aug. 31, 2013).
