Roc Nation has managed Rihanna’s career since 2010, but now the music superstar is officially signed as an artist to the label.
After Seven albums, Rihanna fulfilled her commitment to Def Jam, and a label source told MTV that she signed with Jay-Z, the same person who signed her to Def Jam in 2005.
The deal reportedly took place in April of last year (2013), the first year that the “Stay” hit-maker did not release an album.
It’s not over for Def Jam though! Since Roc Nation’s distribution partnership is with Universal Music Group, the parent company to Def Jam, the label will play a major part in the marketing and promotion of Rihanna’s new music.
Roc Nation’s healthy roster also includes J. Cole, Rita Ora, Willow Smith, mogul Jay Z, and more.
