Ok, Lambily…after much confusion over delayed release dates and speculation that she would pull a Beyonce and drop her album as a surprise, Mariah Carey officially announces the new title and release date: Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse will arrive on May 27!
With this announcement comes the album covers for the standard (15 track) and deluxe (18 track) versions, as well as the tracklisting, and it features “#Beautiful” ft. Miguel and “You’re Mine (Eternal),” along with appearances by Nas, Wale, Fabolous, Mary J. Blige, and R. Kelly.
About the title and artwork, Mariah briefly explains it all in a short video:
“This is my first and only self-portrait. I drew it when I was 3 ½, and I titled it “Me. I am Mariah.” It was a creative visualization of how I saw myself with the purity of a child’s heart before it was ever broken. I’ve kept the drawing private for so long, but because the album is a reflection of some of the peaks and valleys that have made me who I am today, I’ve decided to share it with those of you who actually care and have been here for me through it all. Been through a lot, but I’ve always known me, I am Mariah,” she says.
