August Alsina Happy Over Debut, Talks Being Real, Not Conforming, Flipping, More (Exclusive)

After years of grindin' and a gold selling single with "I Luv This," August Alsina released his debut album, Testimony, on Tuesday, April 15th. The release not only celebrates August's hard work, it is also a birthday celebration for the New Orleans crooner's slain brother, Melvin LaBranch III. Singersroom has been an avid supporter of August, long before the world got wind of him, so it was only right that we catch up with the rising star about this monumental time in his career.

Check out some excerpts from the clip below:

Debut Album: It's a big deal to put out an album. A lot of people don't ever get to put out an album, a lot of people drop a bunch of singles and they probably disappear or whatever, so I'm happy that we finally reached this point and I hope that we grow every day… Good music and talent prevails.

Being Vulnerable on “Kissin’ On My Tattoos”: That was something brand new, real fresh for me, something that the girls never heard or the people never heard from me in general. I feel like there's a lot of things that make up a man… It ain't all about sex and bitches all the time.

Never Changing For Commercial Gains: I never cared about that, that ain't what it's about… It's real people out here that live real lives… You gotta give people a piece of yourself because that last longer.

August The Person: I definitely got a good grasp on myself… I have a good understanding of who I am. At the same time, every day you learn something new about yourself… I'm a man of many traits and emotions, one day I'm this way, one day I'm the next, one day I'm happy, the next day I might f**king curse you out… I was a regular human being, I'm a real n**ga.
